Vendor Spotlight ✦ neither//nor//style

I'm Naomi Kelsey, and my store is neither//nor//style. I stock exclusively sizes L and up. I am passionate about making vintage clothing accessible to ALL sizes and body types.

I've worked in vintage retail and in fashion retail for over 10 years on and off since high school, and I love finding treasures and helping customers feel beautiful.

Vintage clothing has a history and a vibe that is really unique. About 2 years ago I got a work bonus and decided to invest some of it in stock for my store and start an Etsy store. Since then I've sold over 200 items through Etsy and about 100 items through vendor fairs in person.

I started out selling cute contemporary thrifted finds in sizes 12-18 on eBay as well as my vintage stuff on Etsy, but I quickly pivoted to just Etsy as keeping up with two sites was overwhelming, and, to be frank, the customer base at eBay wasn't ideal to work with.

I have always been interested and excited about vintage, but now I search for clothing with particular parameters in mind. I want it to be something the customer can buy and wear right away, not costume-y feeling or old fashioned or frumpy. I don't buy anything I wouldn't 100% wear myself!

WHAT IS THE MOST UNIQUE OR RARE FIND THAT YOU’VE COME ACROSS?

I found two "Coogi" brand sweaters at the same store once but while they are rare/sought after, that's probably not my favorite find. It's these babies.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but these slides have what's called "lenticular printing" which means when you move the shoe, the picture changes from mixed fruit salad to all strawberries in a "magic picture" type of way. The shoe heel, trim, and strap are all printed like this! They are *wild*. I've never seen anything like them before or since (they're sold to a customer about 6 months ago).

WHAT DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR BOOTH BEFORE ATTENDING BONFIRE VINTAGE?

I hope to remove the stigma from "plus sized" clothing and "second hand" clothing. While I do only sell L and up, all sizes are more than welcome to browse and shop for themselves or others. Vintage clothing is a way of owning a little piece of history and I love seeing a customer put on an item that feels like it was made for them! I also just started stocking plus sized vintage lingerie, so I'll be bringing a stash of silky and lacey lovelies to the event!
