Vendor Spotlight ✦ DressVintageCo

Hi, I’m Malinna Gardner, Owner & Curator of DressVintageCo from Grand Junction, CO. (Ma-lynn-na) in case you were curious :) I’m nostalgic, introvert, small town, BIG family, artistic girl married to a scientific boy, hairstylist, pluviophile, spiritual & the way to my heart is humor.

Likes: costume parties, thrift shops, classic books, small gatherings, animals, people watching, authenticity, wit, journaling, privacy, natural hot springs, scenic drives, music, dancing and sewing. Guilty pleasures are caffeine, crappy T.V. and swearing. 🤬🥰📺

It all started with a 1960's plaid dress in an eclectic vintage shop owned by a sweet hippy woman named Kale. I was amazed at her collection of vintage goods, and the moment I walked into her store I was hooked.

Since then, my favorite past time has been searching for beautiful vintage items. I love the thrill of the hunt, especially when I find a piece that's unique and affordable. With every vintage piece there is a story and charm that can't be replicated. My obsession has only grown and I realized I couldn't justify keeping the enormous "hoard" I had gathered all to myself - so now I'm here to share the love.

I've been everywhere from thrift stores, estate sales, nursing homes to grandmothers closets in search of pieces that have brightened my life and hopefully they will do the same for you.

Deciding to turn my hobby into a business was a slow process. Vintage collecting was something I personally enjoyed but never thought about expanding it into a business till my husband encouraged it. The seed was planted...

I spent time collecting, time overcoming self doubt and perfectionist issues and lots of prep time and sideline work...I finally opened my shop on Etsy August of 2018.

The experience has been wonderful! It’s been a great creative outlet for me (not to mention it helps the environment ❤️🌍 and I get to make a little income on the side 😜.) I’ve also been able to meet some very cool and inspiring people with similar interests.

WHAT IS THE MOST UNIQUE OR RARE FIND THAT YOU’VE COME ACROSS?

I have this beautiful Original Quaker Lace Table Cloth that I found at a Salvation Army in Fruita, CO. I just thought it was pretty so I bought it and then my Mom filled me in on the history of Quaker Lace Company...I had no idea!

WHAT DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR BOOTH BEFORE ATTENDING BONFIRE VINTAGE?

My goal is to offer vintage and reconstructed vintage pieces that give wearable, one of a kind charm while remaining reasonably priced.

I’ll have a little bit of everything - clothes, shoes, accessories and some home decor ranging from 1950’s-1990’s.

The bulk of my collection is Vintage Dresses...I have dresses for every occasion! Wedding, Prom, Evening, Day, you name it.
